Legal Question in Banking Law in Turkey

Dishonoured cheque in Turkey

I have a dishonoured cheque presented to my Turkish bank account for a considerable sum due to insufficient funds present.

What can I do? I have been told there are strict penalties for dishonouring debts including imprisonment?

It is correct that there are strict penalties for dishonouring debts including imprisonment. Thus you should pay the debt and obtain a receipt of full discharge from the creditor.

Dear Sir,

The Article 16 of the The Code on the Protection of Cheque Holders no. 3167 provides for 1 - 5 years of imprisonment to the drawer of the cheque.

I suggest you to get some legal assistance for bringing a civil action to collect your money and a criminal action to make the drawer punished for this crime.

Our office is ready to provide this service for you. If you wish to work with us, please contact us to determine the terms and conditions of our services.
