Legal Question in Family Law in United Arab Emirates

I am a muslim I got divorced(talaq) last year . My ex filed a case in my absence when i was out of town (with courts permission)against me claiming that he entrusted his mom's jewellery to me and i took it with me along with other things. He presented it with bills and 2 witnesses but both did not tally with each other , bills were of other items and witnesses claims were others. The judgement was still made in my absense and i appealed in the court . the judgement was also different from his claim so we fought the case similarly. Now the court has decided that the case should be reheard along with my witnesses. Problem is all my relatives are in india and i dont know have any witnesses to support me here. How can i prove that his claim is false and i dont have any of his jewellery . How can i prove him he lies? i dont know the basis of this case as is carries no value , i should be paid a compensation and returning all my belongings but how did he get away with his false and untallyed claim. Please help!

Dear Madam,

Thanks for submitting your inquiry in LawGuru. Your husband should prove his allegation first he could do it, then it would be your responsibility to prove the opposite, you can prove your right by many ways like emails exchanged between you and your husband, camera record in the entrance showing that you did not come to the scene at the time of the crime or even if you could prove that you have any dispute with any of the witness, that would help to challenge the witnesses, if the court had doubts on the witness statement that would help you to be out of the responsibility. Thanks.
