Legal Question in Consumer Law in United Kingdom

Telesales resulting from a request for free info. in e-mail

Over a year ago I replied to an email in my hotmail inbox which offered free information on how to get a better rate of interest on my bank account. I was asked to fill in my phone number - I wish I never had - because I was persistently harassed by a Jason Clark of andersonfitzpatrick.com who conned me into buying shares in 3 companies at a cost of approx 5,500 Sterling. He tried to get me to part with another 1,800 but at that point I contacted my Receivership Officer - who is looking after my savings, and she contacted this Jason Clark and that put a stop to the telephone harassment. When I contacted her recently via email, she said she was having difficulty recovering the sum of money and due to this problem I could not get any statements of the money in Receivership (which I thought the P.G.O. at the Court of Protection had agreed to let me have when we visited him just over a year ago). It was at that time that he allowed me to run my own current account, paying all utility bills and spending whatever I wanted on an annual holiday or new clothes or hi-fi / electrical equipment with the intention of reviewing my situation at the end of 12 months. But that Jason Clark really messed things up. What can I do?

As you so rightly say it does sound as if you were conned into parting with your money. One would hope that your money is safe, but quite clearly this needs to be checked.I am a little confused as to why your Receivership Officer has not done this and kept you informed.

This is very much a matter which we would need to discuss with you if we are to help. If you will let us have a contact telephone number we can speak at a mutually convenient time and decide upon a course of action

Kind regards
