Question Immigration Form

married current husband in egypt. he got a visa, came back to states. found out was not legally divorced from previous husband. got that straight (papers) current husband went bezerk, threatened to murder kids (documentated by police) so i kicked him out 4 months b/f he was due to gain US citizenship. On the INS app, he told me not to put i was previously married, now he wants to sue me for bigamy (State of VA). Question: Is our marriage legal, and what are the INS penalities, should i make an ppt. w/INS officer and repent, face the music? i want a divorce from present husband, but think we aren't legally married (yes, legally divorced from 1st husband) also, should i contact my US atty gen and get a case going (would it be against myself) for the bigamy stuff? i want to clear the air b/f he does it for me. he is under the impression (present husband, 1st is re-married and has no heart burn) that we are still married and said he would sue me for adultery if i ever started another relationship. or should i wait the 12 month sep period in VA then file for divorce (even thought we are not really married?) PHEW!!! what a frickin mess...tell everyone that ppl out there will marry them for citizenship alone and then screw em over

Re: Question Immigration Form

Rather than making an appointment with "INS" now known as the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement(BICE)for purposes of your particular problem, I would endorse the advice already provided by Oregon attorney Wang that you seek a consultation with a Virginia attorney knowledgeable in federal immigration law as well as the domestic relations law of the Commonwealth.
