Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah

Okay so here is my situation, my brother got in to drugs and he he was driving home on the freeway when he passed out at the wheel and crashed in to a cement barrier. Myself and my girlfriend went to picked him up and found a few cops to have him on the side of the vroad. He did not have his lisence but gave my information since his was currently suspended. The cops were going to let him go with us it just before they did they asked for me and my girlfriends info and my brother claiming to be me said I was his brother by his actual name. Come to find out he has a warrant so they arrest me as him. And book me into jail. My girlfriend went down to clear it up saying it wad a stupid mistake and they arrest her for obstruction of justice and give me the same plus falcifying information and another misdemeanor I can't recall. So I want to know if I am looking at more than just a fine for example jail time? And can we get my girlfriends charge dropped since she did not do a thing? Any and all information will be appreciated thanks -matt

It's always difficult to provide accurate answers based on an accused's side of the facts. Remember, the government is going to tell a judge and jury its side of the facts. Under your side of the facts, it should be relatively simple to clean up, but you will still need an attorney. The prosecution gets the "This is all just a big misunderstanding" excuse too often for them to give it any weight.
