Legal Question in Aviation Law in Utah

CFI & CFII certification

I'm currently enrolled in a part 141 school (MY collage). I'm thinking of getting my CFI and CFII done at another school before fall semester starts again at MY collage. MY collage told me that if I get my certification done somewhere else they could give me an F on their records for CFI & CFII for not flying with them, deny me graduation and or throw me out of their collage. Can they legally do this to me?

Re: CFI & CFII certification

There is not sufficient information here to make a decision. Ask to see the schools policies and procedures manual and read what their rules are about these matters. If the school is private, they have more latitude than a public institution. If they receive any federal funds, the federal rules may limit what they can and cannot do. It will take some work to find out your answer.
