Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Utah

i live in salt lake city Utah in a residential area and across the street there is a first step halfway house since 1958 in a residential neighborhood. I would like to know the laws on sex offenders being in the halfway house. Because most of the patients their come straight from jail or prison. I do know that all the halfway houses in Utah are in an industrial area because of the sex offenders.Do they have to notify the residents by mail before they arrive? Because its in a residential area?Thank you a resident.

Half way houses have been allowed in residential areas for many years under local zoning ordinances. Talk to your local zoning authority and city/county attorney about your specific case.
