Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah

I was recently contacted by a US Prosecutor who said they want to subpoena me to be witness in a Mortgage Fraud case in Utah. However, I live and work in China now. How does this work? Can they even issue a subpoena to me here? Also, because of the distance is there a way to quash the subpoena? My information may be helpful in the case but I don't want to travel all that way, especially since taking off a large block of time will definitely affect my employment in China.

What are the ramifications if they do serve the subpoena and I don't come?

The prosecutor has to show that he has jurisdiction over you. If you live and work in China they probably do not have jurisdiction over you. You can tell the prosecutor that you might accept the subpoena if they pay your transportation and time off work.
