Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah

I was wondering what the repercussions of jumping bail are. A friend who is currently living out of the country jumped bail maybe 8-10 years ago. He was pulling out of a parking spot, a campus cop hit him (T-boned). I think it was a state officer (maybe another type of officer) was called. My friend disputed that it was his fault. He was given a ticket anyways. Basically he didn't pay the ticket, I believe a warrant was set for him. He turned himself in, spent a week in jail then a friend bailed him out. He was suppose to go to court but never went. Since then he left the state then country. If he were to come back to the states, what would be the repercussions of jumping bail? This was in Utah, 8-10 years ago. Since then he has been an exemplary member of society here and has been a positive impact in his profession and community.

If the warrant is still outstanding he will have to respond to the court which issued the warrant. He should make the effort to contact the court and resolve the citation. If he returns and is arrested, he will be held for that court and will have to take care of it then.
