Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Utah

Country Club Discrimination?

The country club I'm a member of will not allow me to add an additional member. They said the bylaws only gives a single person the right to designate a person, living in such Single Member's household. I am a single person with no one living in my household. They approved my neighbors son to be added and removed his wife who lives with him. The son does not live with my neighbor. They dont realize I know this as I live in L.A. The property where the membership is an issue is in Utah. They probably dont think I have any communication with my neighbors. The club is giving me a hard time because of a separate issue. They flat out said (in writing) they would not do it because they feel I may sue them for the other issue. As far as the other issue, I have tried resolving it with them by asking to speak with the board, but the board said (in writing) that they would not let me speak to them. I'm from L.A. and really can't understand the childish, unprofessional games these people are playing. Im female, the neighbor is male that they approved for the add on membership.

Re: Country Club Discrimination?

Get and read the bylaws, also get copies of the minutes where the neighbor's son was approved. Look for other consistencies, then sue the board. If the board needs to be reminded that their duty is to enforce the bylaws, so be it.

Re: Country Club Discrimination?

I was asked by "Law Guru" to answer this inquiry.

However, despite your residing in California, this matter is dependent on jurisdiction in Utah, and must be decided under Utah law.

Thus I wish you the best of luck, and I would follow the advice of Mr. Lundgren.
