Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Father wants to give up parental rights so he doesn't have to pay ch support

My ex has decided he wants to give up all parental rights. But still wants to see her. He actually has sole custody but we have shared her 50/50. I pay him ch support. She wants to live with me and we were working to change the papers when her father announced he is done and doesn't want parental rights but wants to see her. He is doing this I am sure to get out of paying child support. There is no way I would try to keep her from him. However, he needs to be responsible financially. Would a judge actually allow him to terminate his rights? Child is almost 14. Divorced a year

You need to return to court to change the court orders. Unless you get the change, any agreement between you is worthless. Your ex does not need to see the child, but will still be required to pay support.

You may call for a free consultation.
