Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My father wants me to go over to his house but I don't want to go. I'm 14 but my father is very strict and rude. I would prefer to stay with my mother but he says I do not have a choice. Is that true?

I'm sorry to hear that you're being put into the middle of a very difficult situation. I know that divorce is very hard on kids. Technically, you should go to your father's house, but I think it might be a good idea to talk to your mom and dad both and see what can be done to talk about your concerns and see what can be done to make things easier for you so you can have a relationship with him that isn't full of so much animosity and bad feelings. One thing you might think about doing is talking to your school counselor and tell him/her about what's going on and see if they have any suggestions. Sometimes, it's a good idea to meet with a counselor with your dad so you can talk about what's bothering you. I'm sure he loves you very much, but it sounds like some things need to be done to bring the two of you closer.
