Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I am in Utah. I have 50/50 custody with no restrictions etc regarding custody. My 14 yo wants to leave a Charter school to home school. I am against it. mother is for it. What options do I have before mediation to have her attend school?

I would need to see what your Decree's parenting plan provides for in situations like this. If you and she were awarded joint legal and/or joint physical custody, the law requires there to be a parenting plan which should include a dispute resolution provision in the event of a disagreeent between the two of you on issues such as this. Some parenting plans give one parent the final decision no making authority in the event of an impasse while others require the parties to attend mediation before taking the matter before the court. You should consult an attorney to review your Decree and the options available to you based on what that Decree requires.
