Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Pay back my bonus?

I received an advance on my 2006 bonus back in June 06. The normal time they give out a bonus is Feb. of the next year. It is now April 07 and I put in my 2 weeks notice. It turns out that no one got a bonus in Feb. and now they want me to pay them back with money or services. Am I required to do this? Is there a statute of limitations that would protect me from having to pay them back? I feel like I am being held hostage. I didn't sign anything saying I would pay them back and was not given any type of written agreement that explained the terms of the bonus advance.
