Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Utah

Landlord has no contract. I do.
My original landlord died shortly having signing a contract with her. A relative took over for her. I now wish to terminate my contract. However, I believe that the agreed term with the original landlord was until a couple of months from the time I need to leave. In speaking with my new landlord, I've learned he will not allow me to vacate to my new residence. He additionally informed me that he has no contract with me. He physically cannot find the contract I signed with the original landlord. Do I have to honor a contract he cannot produce? Am I under obligation to produce the contract I physically have?

Yes. And Yes.Your contract would be disclosed and ordered produced in any court action, unless you destroyed it, which would be a criminal act.
