psychiatrist/psychologist liability

If a psychiatrist/psychologist has knowledge of the sexual molestation/abuse of a child by his/her patient, is he/she required/able to report the crime and is he/she liable if the abuse continues because it is not reported?

Yes, a medical professional, counselor or religious leader is required to report sexual abuse by law. The person who failed to report should be identified to the proper authorities. The patient either individually or through the patient's guardians can sue for damages.
