Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Utah

my mother is dying and I assume my sister has been given authority over my mothers assets(house etc)in the will. MY mother is still alive and at my sisters daughters place where she is taking care of my mother. The house is empty so my sister let her granddaughter live in the house. Does my sister have the right to do this?

It depends on whether or not your sister has been given authority through the proper documents. Even then she is required to account for her decisions. If she has authority she cannot arbitrarily let her daughter live free in the house - she has a duty to the estate to use the house to make money - i.e. the daughter should pay market value rent.
