Legal Question in Administrative Law in Virginia

death intestate

My mother died intestate and she had several credit card debts left unpaid. There is no funds left. My mother was a retiree living off of SS beenfits less than 625/month. The creditors were sent a death certificate after her death on May 15, 2008. They are insisting that arrangements are made to pay them, but I do not have the funds to pay them. Is there anything that they can do?

Re: death intestate

No, you cannot be held responsible for your deceased mother's unpaid bills. That responsibility lies with her estate.
