Legal Question in Banking Law in Virginia

I'm unemployed. Can my credit card touch my bank acct?

After paying perfect for 2 yrs. I'm now unemployed. I only get SSI. Can my former credit card freeze my bank account or will they just put it on my credit report? They don't have access to it but I always paid them by check.

They would have to sue you first, and then garnish the account. To the extent you can show that all funds in the account are from SSI, you should be able to exempt the funds, but they may be frozen from when the garnishment is served until resolved by the court.
