Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
2. An accounting obtained a list accounting students due to graduate in December. The firm sent form letters on firm stationary to these students congratulating them on their soon-to-be-realized accomplishment. The letter described, in general terms, the firm’s salary and benefit package for new employees and their chances for promotion within the firm. The letter closed with the following: “We hope you will consider a position with our firm upon your graduation.” Kiran, a soon-to-graduate accounting major, received a copy of the firm’s letter addressed to her by name. She immediately responded to the letter by writing on it “I accept,” and returned it to the firm. Does Kiran have a job?

Hopefully Kiran did her own homework instead of posting the questions online and hoping someone more knowledgeable would give her the answers. Whether she gets a job or not, she won't keep it for long if she hasn't mastered the subject matter.
No. She accepted a non-offer. Had the letter said, "We hereby offer you a job . . . " she might have a contract leg to stand on (which would during the early weeks of the job most assuredly get kicked out from under her), but the letter merely offered a hope she would consider a job, if ever one were offered.
