Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

Advertising

Our business has been using a shipping board to get some of our work. However lately we've found along with other shippers that the shipping board involved has linked our business name to theirs. When potential customers do a web search (google), for instants, our business name is linked directly to their web pages.

We were under the under the understanding that our business name would only be linked on the actual website. Customers already in the shipping board could search and find us. NOT to be linked while doing a search on the world wide web.

In essence this has to do with internet advertising. Can another company link our business to their web search?

Re: Advertising

I think we would need more information to answer your question. Are they using your business name in their Google ads? Are they using your business name as the search term in the ads? Or are you coming up in the organic search results because of your presence on the shipping board? The answer to each of these dramatically changes the potential outcome.
