Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Virginia

Members of the US Congress swear in an oath of office to "faithfully discharge the duties of office. . . " Most Republicans have also sworn an oath to a lobbyist, pledging never to raise taxes, even tho this conflicts with upholding duties of their office.

Why is the oath to a lobbyist not a conflict of interest? Is it legal to pledge this oath when it is directly responsible for the impasse in Congress and its inability to address the nation's many infrastructure needs, which then impedes commerce?

An "oath to a lobbyist"--supposedly sworn to by Republican congressional office holders?

And, of course, with no Democrats involved in such alleged oaths (of whatever nature and to whomever supposedly made.)

Nonsense.
