Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

On April 30 I purchased a 2005 Acura TL .... less than three days later I really wanted something sportier. I notified the dealer that I was not happy and wanted to 'undo' the deal. The finance guy, George told me that I was an adult and knew what I was doing. They were in such a hurry to close the deal that they initially let me leave without paying the down payment. Then they needed bank statements. I complied both times. Now, this is when it got really interesting. Last week they told me that they needed another pay stub. The one that I gave them did not show my full weekly income. It just showed a retroactive raise that I had just received. They called me approximately 6 times letting me know the urgency that this final stipulation be filled to "put this puppy to bed". When I realized that the loan was not been a 'done deal' I decided to contact the bank's loan verification dept and the General Mgr of the Dealership. I let them know that I was unhappy with the car and that I felt that I was getting jerked around by the dealership. The bank told me that I had to discuss that with the dealer. I could see the writing on the wall everyone was passing the buck. But no one was asking me to return the car as I had anticipated.

I was concerned when the dealer did not call me this past Saturday as they had done every business day that they were open begging for this pay stub. And as of Friday 13 May the bank still needed a pay stub. I called today to find out how long they were going to give Royal to produce a valid pay stub. They informed me that they no longer require any docs. To my shock and amazement they had made an exception to pay stub requirement! Without that pay stub they basically allowed me to state my income! Isn't this one of the issues with the mortgage foreclosure crisis?

I do not believe that I am the first nor will I be the last customer interested in returning a car after signing on the dotted line.

This is a tough lesson learned. I am now stuck with a car that I hate! In the future I will not work with a dealer that does not give me the option of simply changing my mind.

On a personal level the George repeatedly referred to me as 'girl'. I loathe the reference and given the opportunity I will tell him as much.

Looking Forward,

Yep, Paris, looks like they finally did manage to "put this puppy to bed"---and,

unfortunately, at your expense, of course.
