Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Auto Warranty - Please help

I'm trying to find out if this is legit. I bought an extended warranty, sold my car and told them over the phone to cancel my contract, apparently I ended up making a years worth of warranty payments, and when my wallet got stolen I changed my credit cards. Then they tried to pull funds from my old card which they couldn't, and canceled my contract for not being able to collect. We're talking about a years worth of payments for nothing. I can provide them an odometer reading from when the car was traded, but they claim according to the contract they can keep my money since they couldn't collect. What the heck should I do? The payments were made on my Visa card... should I proceed with disputing them with my credit card company or doing something about the warranty company? Please help.

Re: Auto Warranty - Please help

Initially, the more fruitful approach is likely for you to file a written complaint with your card issuer, formally placing in contest these charges and characterizing them as unauthorized and charged to your account after you had given notice of cancellation of the contract for warranty coverage.

Recovering these charges from the warranty company would be legally akin to "pulling teeth"(in my opinion), to use the well worn metaphor from the world of dentistry.
