Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
Warranty
I bought a hyundai 2003 second hand car from a well known dealer. The car had a warranty of 1 year or 30000 miles.
I used the car for 2 months and di 3000 miles on it and then had a oil chane from the same dealer .
The next day after the oil change while driving on a highway my car broke down and wouldnt move.I had to get it towed to the dealer. At the dealers place i noticed that there was no oil in the car and immediately it struck me that while changing oil there must have been some mistake by the mechanic. I was told to come the next and the following day i was informed that a seal had broken and therefore the oil had spilled and car had got spoiled.I was told that thye warranty didnt cover this problem and i was suprised to hear that.Well how do we know what is covered in warranty .For any mistake they can say that.I am now told ythat i have to pay $1700 to get it repaired.
Kindly inform me what I should do and whether the dealer is obliged to pay for my repair or not.And if he is what course of action I should take.

Re: Warranty
You should have an attorney examine the warranty document itself to determine what precisely is covered and just as important what may or may not be covered in your warranty. Then, if it's determined that you have a viable claim,, this person should also be able to advise you regarding the filing of your case in small claims court.
