Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

garnishments

A local carpet cleaner was awarded a judgement against me, due to unfair billings...After our court hearing, where no payment arrangements or garnishment were discussed...I awaited a final bill to include court costs, attorney fees...The paperwork was signed off in court 12/23, my bank account was froze 1/2, and not notified until 12/17 by the attorney...Seems the papers that were sent regular mail and not delivered by a court representative. The papers state they were ''demanded to be delivered by'' Should I have been notified prior to my account being froze?

Re: garnishments

No. Judgment was entered at the court hearing. You do not receive notification of a garnishment before it is served, as you could then withdraw all the money first.
