Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

lent credit card to boyfriend

I lent my credit card in May to my boyfriend at the time, with the understanding that it was for emergencies only. He then racked over $900 on it. I cancelled the card. I didn't see the point in filing a police report since it was my fault I let him use it, but i didn't authorize $900 in charges. I can't get the receipts proving the signatures without a police report. is there anything else i can do to get my $ back?

Re: lent credit card to boyfriend

Sure, sue him in small claims court, reconstructing as best you can the record of his unauthorized borrowing from you.

If the matter ever gets before a judge, it'll be his(your ex boyfriend's) word against yours + that record which you will need to present to the court as part of your case. The better and more convincing that record is, needless to say, the better your chances will be of your winning your case.
