Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

payment on work that was not authorized

I had trees cut down and was quoted a price that stated everything to the dirt. Then they stated the stumps were to be ground out. Was suppose to call with a price and new afternoon they already did the work without a quoted price or the okay to do. Now they hand me a bill for 1000 dollars. Do I legally have to pay them this amount since they did not have my permission to do the work?

Re: payment on work that was not authorized

If the grinding of the stumps was to be the subject of a new agreement and the tree cutters proceeded without your specific permission, then you should negotiate a price which reasonably represents the cost of this additional work (but, no, you're not going to get the grinding work done for nothing).

You have also failed to claify whether the $1000 bill includeds the entire job

or just the stump grinding.
