Legal right based upon what? Your uncle's apparent lie that that this storage unit had been paid for when apparently in actuality it had only been leased from the true owner who now, understandably, wants the unit back?

Your wife's apparent initial suspicions regarding the uncle and this storage building were apparently well justified.
