Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Tuition Assistance

Good evening, I initially submitted my issue on July 29th. It was actually on my daughter's, behalf. It concerned whether a University (Hampton University) in Hampton Virginia can start collection on a loan that my daughtwer owes to them while she is still a fulltime student. I was contacted by Karen from Prepaid Legal. We played phone tag a couple of times, but I never got the chance to speak to her. Since then, I have been hospitalized, and your call back number was inadvertently erased from my phone. I can only remember Karen's first name. Would you please have Karen call me back? 757 490-0402

Re: Tuition Assistance

There is not enough information in your posted inquiry to determine whether such collection activity on the part of the University would be appropriate under the circumstances to which you've alluded.

Perhaps, Karen from Prepaid Legal knows more

of the facts but I don't believe you'll find her here at this particular address(www.lawguru.com BBS).

Re: Tuition Assistance

I am afraid I don't know whether or not the educational institution was right or wrong in taking the collection action you mentioned. I would respectfully suggest, however, that the people who answer questions on LawGuru are supposed to be volunteer attorneys. I am skeptical, at best, of the value (if any) offered by "Prepaid Legal Services." They appear to be a multilevel marketing scheme. If someone other than a licensed attorney purports to answer your LawGuru question, please contact a LawGuru BBS administrator.
