Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I was charged last night with class 5 felony conspiracy and felony possession with intent. The Narcotics officers DID NOT see or find anything on me. Though there was a pillow case with weed in the front yard (I guess near where I was walking), I was walking to my car to go bail my boyfriend out. The conspiracy is because while my boyfriend was arrested he asked the neighbor to call me and tell me he was getting arrested. Would a court appointed lawyer do me any good? I just started a new job so the initial payment for a lawyer will be tough on me. I have never been in any other trouble before and they put me on pre-trial.
