Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Court Appointed Atty's

I have been appointed an atty in my case that is going before a Grand Jury, and this particular atty is NOT COMPETENT in defending me on my criminal case. How can I go about getting another atty appointed, if this is even possible?

Re: Court Appointed Atty's

Go to the clerk's office (criminal division)and find out which judge appointed the lawyer you are unhappy with and then ask the clerk whether you should either request a hearing in your case to have new counsel appointed or whether you should write the judge a letter in order to make this request.(Be prepared to give good reasons as to why your current lawyer should be replaced.)
