Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I have to go to court after being arrested on a capias that stems from a failure to appear after getting a ticket for driving on a suspended license (1st offense). What do I need to know and what should I expect? I do not have a lawyer and I don't think I can afford one even though I do not qualify for court appointed lawyer.

You should expect a fine and/or jail time if you do not have a very good explanation. Unless you have other defenses not apparent from your stated query, you might talk to the prosecutor about pleading guilty to the DSL and having the other FTA nol prossed (nolle prosequi) or dismissed. Good luck.

Some prosecutors may speak with you depending on the jurisdiction. If you are worried -

you should get an attorney. You may be facing jail.
