Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

my friend overdosed

I had a friend overdose in my house, he had been up all night partying i was not here. i came home in the am and hung out with him for an hour. i saw a bag of pills on the table, but the only drugs that were done was pot. i went to sleep and he stayed for another few hours. i woke up around 4 and went to wrk, i wrk nights. i heard him snoring as i left but thought nothing of it. He's friend that had been there the whole time, was asleep on the couch. that night i got a call while i was at wrk saying he overdosed. I have never had any trouble with the law and i was completeely honest about everything, even about using drugs with him weeks earlier. there were test messeges from me to him on his phone, i was trying to buy pot from him. the cops asked me and i told then the truth. as i said ive never been in trouble. the cops told me i am not in aany trouble, but i am still scared. I didnt give him any drugs and i did not see him take any. His friend was there the whole time however, even when the police were called.

Re: my friend overdosed

Possession or use of Schedule I controlled substances -- which includes marijuana ("pot") -- is a crime in Virginia (and many other states) for which you can be sentenced to a prison term. My suggestion is to avoid "friends" who engage you in illegal activities. Otherwise, sooner or later you will need an attorney to help you with a criminal charge.
