My friend posted some pictures and videos of a man holding his fathers rifle on facebook. My friend does not know this man is a felon this man also rents the upstairs of his fathers house out. My friend and his father live in the downstairs of the house the father also does not know that this man is a felon. The rifle is kept in the garage of the house where the felon has access to it if police see my friends facebook page could they arrest the man? also would my friend and his father be in trouble?.

Yes, if the individual depicted on the Facebook page turns out to be a convicted felon who

would therefore be legally prohibited from owing or possessing a firearm, he could be subject to arrest and prosecution for violation of the federal statute

involved with this offense.

No, I would think that the father would be in the clear but the son might possibly be putting himself

in jeopardy for something akin to the offense of "aiding and abetting" the convicted felon's

violation of federal law.
