Juvenile charged with petty larsony

My son 14 years of age was charged at school today with petty larsony. My question is he was questioned by a police officer without me or my wife present. He was also told to write a statement and sign his name to it. Is this the correct legal way.

Re: Juvenile charged with petty larsony

No, what you have described is not "the correct legal way." This type of interrogation should only have taken place in the presence of one of the boy's parents, a guardian ad Litem or other attorney acting in his defense.
