Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

neighbors pit bull

I'm retired, and I walk a lot for health reasons. last year while walking a pit bull came out of a neighbors yard and confronted me. I was able to get away from him with some effort. a few weeks later it happened again. this time i called the police. they sent the animal warden, and he tallked to the people that owned the dog and informed them that i could use lethal force to protect myself if the dog came on the road after me. since then i have obtained a concealed weapons permit and i carry a handgun. the dog has came up to the road several times, but the owners have managed to restrain him. each time i removed my weapon and prepared for the worst. yesterday the dog and his owner were in the yard, and the dog came after me again, i drew my weapon and the owner came out on the road with the dog and informed me that if i shot his dog he would shoot me. we had a few select words and the last thing he said was I will f--- you up. i called the police and they talked to him but did not make an arrest. this house is a rental, i have informed the owner of the problem and also the real estate company that manages the property. my question is at this point do i have any legal course of action that i can persue thank you, jr

Re: neighbors pit bull

No, probably not until you feel the jaws of the pit bull closing around one of your ankles or shin bones(in my opinion).
