non-sexual assault by fellow inmate while awaiting arrainment in jail
I was arrested on suspicion of DUI and later found innocent. While in jail, another inmate beat up just to get my gold chain and cruifix. Can I sue the county sheriff dept?

One can always sue; whether you could recover, however, for your injuries in this particular situation would require more information and relevant facts to make any determination on the issue.
