Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Petit Larcency &Consequences

Me and my wife have been charged with petit larcency in Loudoun county virginia. We both are on H1B visa. What kind of consequences do we have to face? Is there a way to pre pay for this offence or arrange for an out-of-court settlement. Also what can be done to avoid any possible effect on our visa / Green card. Please advice. We are very much worried.

Re: Petit Larcency &Consequences

You need a law firm that practices criminal and immigration law. This charge is dangerous to your immigration status. Although not likely to result in immediate deportation, if you are convicted, your renewal or change of status can be affected and lead to your eventual deportation. It is possible to settle this with negotiation and a plea of accord and satisfaction, but this must be handled skillfully.
