Reduce felony to a misdemeanor
In 2005 I was charged with malicious wounding in Virginia. I was 25 at the time. Now that I am almost 30 I have completed my sentence and will be off of unsupervised probation in a few months. I would like to become a fire fighter in my local jurisdiction but cannot with a felony. Is it possible to have the judge reduce my crime on paper so I can get a good job and carry on with my life? I still have quite a large restitution bill to pay.
Re: Reduce felony to a misdemeanor
Very unlikely. Furthermore, records of felony convictions are not expungeable in the Commonwealth unless you can prove that you were wrongfully convicted and have received a pardon from the governor. (Va. Code Sec. 19.2-392.2 et seq.)
