Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Virginia

Deprivation of character

My wife and step son are both bipolar. My stepson is medicated and my wife the same. My ex wife consistantly has stated in court that both my wife and step son are violent unwell persons in order to attempt to gain leverage in a visitation case with my son with my ex. My ex has consistantly rummored that my wife and 9 yr old step son are violent and shouldn't be around my son. A gardian ad liedem was assigned 6 yrs ago and stated in court all was perfectly normal. Now me ex continues to degrage the fact that my wife and step son have this disorder. I am a police officer and there are issues with this situation fore, rummors of the bipolar in my family has gotten to work and it has caused my wife and step son a great deal of depression on top of their current medical issues. Should I attemp to file a cilil deprivation of character suit against the ex?

"Civil deprivation of character suit against the ex"? No, I don't think so.

And, if you're really thinking of a defamation suit, you would be well advised to discuss this with an attorney who is appropriately versed in the defamation law of the Commonwealth before doing anything further. (And, FYI, any statements made by your former spouse in a court hearing regarding these matters would most likely be protected and not actionable as defamation.)
