Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Virginia

Possible Discrimination

I have worked as a sales rep for a small company for almost 2 years. There are only 2 members on the sales force (myself and a male sales rep.) A new sales manager (my boss) was hired about 6 months ago. From the beginning, this boss treated me with very little respect. In fact, after observing an incident where my boss ''yelled'' at me, the male sales rep commented that he thought the boss treated me in such a manner because I am female and that he had no such problems with the boss.

I was given a written warning 6 weeks ago which stated I must meet a specific sales goal within 6 weeks. I did not meet this goal and I was fired this week. I was told by my boss that the male sales rep is under the same ''warning'' for not meeting goals butlater found out from the sales rep that this is untrue. In fact, I found out I had a better sales record year to date than the male rep.

I should point out that 2 other females who worked for this boss have unexpectedly left the company in the past month. I am now the 3rd.

I strongly feel I have been discriminated against because I am being held to a different standard than the male sales rep. However, I realize this is difficult to prove. Do I have a potential case?

Re: Possible Discrimination

You've said it quite accurately, i.e., it would be "difficult to prove."
