sued for reporting a bad school bus driver

i along with other parents reported a school bus driving for driving to fast wreckless and erratic time arrivals of our school children,my daughter had 11 tardies in 6 weeks because she didnt get them to school on time-- over the past 6 years,a month ago she went out of medical leave,rumor is drug rehab,the only people i talked to was the school board office and princpial today i get a letter from a attorney for her threaten to sue me for slander,intimation,and harrassment,i have not spoken to this lady in 5 years,why am i being threaten to be sued for reporting her bad driving on these mountain roads to her boss,who told her it was me shouldl that have not been private,help what can i do i feel as i did nothing wrong just trying to protect my children,is there anything i can do?

The letter seems to be designed to intimidate you for the expressing of your safety concerns to the school administration. If you also mentioned her alleged drug use to the administration in addition to your concerns over her driving, it may be the reason for the letter. A false oral statement (spoken, not written) about another person asserting they broke the law (illegal drug use) when it did not actually occur is actionable as slander. But for her to win a slander case requires that she proves that the statements you made about the drug use were false. It does not matter that you did not make the statements to her, just that they were made to any third party.
