What happens re a (Alexandria) Virginia show cause hearing if process is attempted by private professional process server and service is not successful?

Probably, a continuance in the hearing if the defendant

is never properly served with the required notice of the hearing.

If the defendant does not show up in court on the day appointed for the hearing, nothing will happen. Plaintiff will have to make another attempt at serving the defendant.
