Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My brother is mentally handicaped and my father has placed him in a mental instituiton, but will not allow me to see him. Do i have any legal rights that would help in me being able to see him?

If your brother is under eighteen, you and he may have a legal right to visitation independent of your father. You would need to pursue a visitation petition in the juvenile court where he is resident. If he is 18 or older, the situation is more complicated, and the answer would be very fact-specific.
