Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My daughter's father hasn't tried to have any contact with us at all since she was 6 months old. He is now trying to inquire about how she is and send her gifts. My husband is going to adopt her when he gets home from serving in Afghanistan so should I encourage his presents or ask him to stop because he is going to have to give up his rights anyway? He has been in prison and my daughter has no idea where he's been. I think it would do more harm than good to submit her to his influence after such a long absence. Please help me! Thank you! -Jodi Simpson [email protected]

It would be helpful to obtain the biological father's signature on the consent form if your husband is going to adopt your child. Sheryl Shane, Attorney at Law. www.sherylshanelaw.com.
