Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Emancipation Question

I am 16, and wish to get married to a girl(18) who I have been with for years. My parents will not consent to it, and I have been looking into emancipation as an option not only for the marriage but also to get out of home. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Emancipation Question

Your are now contemplating two serious mistakes:

#1. Marrying, at your age of 16 years a girl who is two years older.

#2 Seeking to emancipate yourself(with all the financial considerations which such a move necessarily entails) at age 16 from presumably loving parents who now provide you with home and hearth at little or no cost to you.

I can tell you with great assurance that both of these proposals are freighted with the potential for big trouble(for you as well as the girl).

However, I will not elaborate further as to all the reasons as to why this is very likely to be true, knowing full well that you most probably will ignore this advice and plunge ahead anyway on to this perilous course of conduct to your very serious detriment.
