Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My estranged husband and I have not spoken or seen each other in 25 years. Do I file for divorce in the county/state that we were married or in the county/state that I currently reside? It would be an uncontested divorce, no children or property included. I also want to go back to my maiden name!! How would I do that?

You should file for your divorce in the circuit court of the city or county and state

as to where you currently reside and where you are recognized as a

legal resident for the required time period under the divorce laws of

this particular state.

Regarding the reassumption of your maiden name, you can ask for that near the

end of your complaint or petition (whichever may be appropriate).
