Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Hi, I have a Family lawyer currently from Fairfax, VA....my previous court cases and including current cases are over and I had to pay so much money to lawyer so far, I am single mom,..and now into Financial crisis....if any future cases planning to represent myself!...I sent him and email saying due to my financial I can't have you as my lawyer anymore!...will that suffice to withdraw my lawyer?...what is the procedure to withdraw a lawyer in Faifax county, VA?...do I have to file any paperwork with local court to withdraw him?...This is really urgent, please advice!...Thanks in advance!!..

Having heard from you that you wish to dismiss him, your lawyer should prepare an agreed order to present to the court (no appearance should be required of anyone) signed by you, him and opposing counsel.
