I own a home and boyfriend/fiancé is moving in. What is the appropriate amount to ask for mortgage and utilities assistance, while protecting my home, in case we separate ways? Thank you.

Probably, somewhere around 1/2 of what this property would rent for ,i.e., the fair market rental value as

indicated by similar properties in the area, if this boyfriend.fiance were taking up residence as a renter.

And, yes, it would not be inappropriate for him to sign a lease to clarify his

status in the home should he make certain proprietary claims later on in the relationship.
